Abstract
Technology Description

This technology is claudin-1 targeting nanoparticles for site-specific delivery to the blood brain barrier. The blood brain barrier (BBB) restricts compounds from reaching the brain. Research has shown that claudin-1 expression on the BBB surface increases in disease and aging. Claudin-1 is expected to have a role in BBB integrity, though the role has not been fully elucidated. The C1C2 peptide nanoparticle (C1C2-NP) targets regions of upregulated claudin-1 expression, where the C1C2 peptide has specific binding and affinity for claudin-1. The C1C2-NP can serve as a drug delivery vehicle or tool for studying disease and age related BBB dysfunction.
