Abstract
Overview

A number of widely-used, environmentally-persistent per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) – nicknamed “forever chemicals” – are linked to a number of health problems, including cancer. A cost-effective treatment process for PFAS is not currently available, and there is an urgent need to develop novel sorbents with high-capacity, easy regeneration with short equilibration times for efficient PFAS removal.

Technology

This invention has developed hydrogel-based microstructures based on functionalized polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) for PFAS removal.
