Producing High-Quality Carbon-Based Perovskite Solar Cells In Minutes

THE PROBLEM

As solar energy becomes an increasingly sought-after global commodity, solar panels production must increase to meet demand. Unfortunately, current manufacturing methods take hours to produce efficient products. Additionally, the high temperatures during fabrication can create stability issues that lead to poor performance.

OUR SOLUTION

Researchers at The University of Alabama have developed a fast method of producing highly efficient carbon-based perovskite thin-film solar cells in less than 5 minutes, significantly shortening the manufacturing process and cutting costs. The hot press screen printing method uses novel sputter coating and transport layering, resulting in a carbon composite perovskite solar cell that can reach a 17-18% power conversion efficiency without using high temperatures.
